background information

About the author

Duncan Nealon is a regular, ordinary man who was 40 years old when he took on the Marathon Des Sables. He is not a member of a running club and fitted in training around work, and family life with his wife and two young children.

About the book

Keep Moving Forward is Duncan's extremely honest account of what it takes to train for, plan, and ultimately succeed in the Marathon Des Sables.

The story is happy, sad, painful and ultimately triumphant. Passages will make you laugh, make you cry, make you wonder why anyone would be so mad as to try to run across the Sahara, and then make you want to take on the challenge yourself.

With sections on training, nutrition and kit, and an hour by hour account of the race itself and life in the bivouac, this book is the perfect guide for any 'regular' runners looking to take on the Marathon Des Sables.

Beyond that however, the book will hook in anyone who enjoys a human interest story, or is looking for motivation in their own lives.
